About Me

Hi, I’m Leann and I want to help authors.

I want to meet them where they are: on their budget, their timeline, and their scope.

I grew up in Northeast Ohio and received a Masters Degree in Art History and Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State University.

After working for a few years as both an instructor of art history and a youth librarian, I became a full time public services librarian specializing in programming and events at Bexley Public Library in Central Ohio. For five years, I worked at BPL with community partners to plan accessible programming for the public. (Listen to me interview Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Connie Schultz on the BPL Podcast.) I jumped at the opportunity to work with growing indie children’s book publisher, Modern Marigold Books, in 2021.

As I worked in different key areas of the book business, I kept noticing a pattern: the majority of authors I worked with were overwhelmed by what came after their book was published.

Since launching my business, I work on a freelance basis with individual author and publisher clients. I have experience working with authors from a range of genres and at various stages in their careers. I work with authors publishing children’s books, novels, as well as comics and graphic novels. Including small indie presses Modern Marigold Books and Yali Books, I have worked with all sizes of publishers and their imprint teams including Sourcebooks, Abrams, and Penguin Random House.

I am currently accepting new clients.

Whether unable to afford a traditional publicist or simply at the whim of their publishing house’s overworked staff, I saw authors struggling to connect with their community.

I started my own business as a publicist in 2022 to help the authors who want to connect with their readers.

Ask me about the time I made Amy Poehler and Kelly Clarkson laugh on live TV with The Harmony Project from Columbus, OH. lol.
